Haese Academy Headlines: Volume 2 Issue 4

Today, we are celebrating the last day of school here on campus. It has been another incredible year of growth for all of us and we are beyond excited for all that we have been able to accomplish together! I am proud of our students for their remarkable achievements – nearly all finish the year reading and writing at grade level in two (2) languages! I am amazed by the work of our staff and the dedication they have shown day in and day out helping these kids achieve their goals. And I am humbled by the generosity you, our Haese Academy family, have shown in supporting our mission. Without you our work here on campus would not be possible. For that, I, along with our team and all our students, are forever grateful!

While our work as a primary school has been nothing short of magnificent, unfortunately, we recently learned that it was not a model desired by local authorities. After almost two years working with them to ensure the future success of our students, they opted not to approve our pending application, despite repeated words to the contrary. While it initially felt like a devastating blow, we have come to realize that it is, in fact, an incredible opportunity. An Incredible opportunity to remain agile and resilient; to remove the barriers to entry created by a private school; to extended our reach into the community; and to utilize our amazing campus and staff to further educate local youth. You can learn all about this new development in the attached Haese Academy Headlines.

This latest edition of the Haese Academy Headlines contains the following headlines:

  • Primary School Wraps Another Incredible Year

  • In Charting our Course, the Why Always Comes Before the How

  • Haese Academy Launches Community Center – Further Expands Reach into the Community

  • Haese Academy Partners with Neighbors – Develops New Field to Support Expanded Baseball Program

  • Prospect Watch: Big League Action with Yoelvin Silven

In addition to the headlines, we will be hosting a Zoom information session on June 9, 2022 at 5:00pm to further discuss our change in approach and answer any questions you may have regarding the future of the Haese Academy! If you are interested in attending, please rsvp to dhaese@haeseacademy.com. We would love to see you there!

Finally, while working in a third world environment may at times seem challenging and is often uncertain, one thing we know for sure is that we will never give up and we will never stop fighting to serve the underserved children of Las Terrenas! As always, thank you for joining us on this mission. Together, we are truly making a difference!
